  • Recommend


    Hoodstars just launched our Recommend feature today!

    It's really a simple feature: if you like a post, just click the Recommend link.  Your friends will see a link to that post in their inbox! It's a great way to share great content.

    It's only been a few hours since we launched Recommend, but already we've gotten hundreds of recommendations in the system!  We've been learning a lot from how people are using it:
    • It can be a bit overwhelming to get tons of recommendations all at once
    • It can be a bit annoying if lots of people recommend the same post.  So we may find ways to group those together (e.g. "This post has been recommended by three subs").
    • Some people have mentioned it'd be nice to have a recommendations tab/filter on your Universal Inbox, so you can view only recommendations if you want.

  • Online Status



    Hoodstars has just launched "online status" icons to the site.

    Essentially, a little icon will appear next to your username if you've been signed onto Hoodstars recently.  We'd start off showing if you've been on the site in the last five minutes...and maybe increase that depending on feedback.  Any thoughts on what a good amount of time would be?

    Edit: To clarify, here are a few more details . . .
    • The icon is based on your last active time on the site.
    • If you have been active in the last 5 minutes (read: you've loaded another Hoodstars page), you are considered online. If you're just reading posts on one page and not moving around the site, it won't think you are online and the icon will not show up.
    • This will go into effect on Monday.
    • You can opt out at any time!

    Joel, the 'BowWow' chat room here on hoodstars does not work.. When it loads, only the top half (the video and the highlights section) loads. the chat... stays blank. It wont even attempt to connect and say 'connecting' TROUBLE SHOOTING session lol
